Construction seen through women’s eyes

My Home - My Space

11 August 2020

When it comes to construction, the first thing that comes into my mind is a set of buildings such as houses, flats, public buildings, and so on. However, it is often associated with men, something they used to do, but let’s see what women think about that because we are a voice.

As a woman, I’ve always been thinking how my house would look like. When I say the construction of my house, I do not only consider the finished project but the entire process because this is what construction means: all the steps taken for achieving a good looking and durable project. On the whole, when I find myself in front of a building, no matter what it could be, I am looking for several aspects, such as style, quality, standards, dimensions, the place it is situated, and after that, I am so curious about the interior design. There are many tiny houses built in a very comfortable way that you no longer wish for a huge one.

I’ve constantly been trying to pencil in how my home will look, and there are a few aspects I am looking for: location, style, and design. I do prefer moderate and cosy houses instead of those I could “get lost”. Why do I say that?! For me, it’s pretty simple! I consider a house not a simple building but the place I call my home, where my heart finds peace because this is where I spend most of my time, energy, and daily activities. That’s why I would not go for an extra-large house, neither am I a very tiny one, but one which is spacious enough, regarding all the family members.

First of all, when I say location, I prefer the countryside, away from all the noise and pollution found in great towns. I want to be a quiet place, surrounded by forests; I do not want to be isolated but in an accessible and comfortable home. Secondly, there is a lot to say about the style, but I’ll mention just several characteristics. It will be on two levels, with a good imitation of the Victorian; I choose a good combination of vintage and modern, with the final product aesthetically pleasing.

The Ground Floor would have a spacious hall, from where we could enter the living room, with a good view of our garden. Then, on the same level, there will be a toilet, a small reception, a large kitchen form where we could access the dining room and then into the garden. In the garden, I want to have a terrace surrounded by different plants and flowers, a very deceptive garden indeed, because I love gardening.

The First Floor will be a kind of a private place, as there we will have a master bedroom, with a bathtub inside and access to an en-suite, then three medium bedrooms for our children, one bathroom and a shower room, a dressing and a playing room.

In conclusion, this is just a sketch of how I imagine the construction of my house, but many other things need to be done. The most important thing for me is to be a high-quality one both in shape and design, because, as I said, the house is the place I spend most of my time, it is my world, and it needs to be perfect.
