Construction seen through women’s eyes

Construction Identity

5 November 2020

Constructions are different, each of them having their own “identity”, if we can say so.

In a big way, they show what they are meant for and the contrasts and describe those who live in that building.
For example, an ordinary and huge construction, where a wooden cross is the only decorative object, can point out a church or a chapel. On the same street, another construction gets us the idea of a very welcome and comfortable home, which comes through its design or the way that the project has been organised. Both of them, different buildings, have such a great contrast, right?!
Well, when we see a building, we can realise whether it’s a lifeless or a very active place, where you are so much welcome when a building is “more than walls”, there and then construction means home; it means refuge, safety, intimacy, warmth, and comfort. Cause, beyond a wall, memories can be born and treasured and, in this way, an ordinary building comes to life and becomes a home through the people who live it.
As a wife, when I say “home”, with a smile, I am thinking about the warm atmosphere my husband comes into after a long day, where children feel safe and loved, where they can grow harmoniously. It is where, as Christians, guests are welcome and our home is shared with the ones in need.
And if I were imagined “my dream house”, I wish each room can picture our family’s personality. A building itself means walls; however, when it comes into “the right hands”, it becomes a story.
